The George Peabody Library
The Sheridan Libraries at The Johns Hopkins University announce the opening of Eureka!: Rare Books in the History of Scientific Discovery at the George Peabody Library in Baltimore. Spanning more than 2,500 years of scientific breakthroughs and including books that date from the late 15th century to the mid 20th century, Eureka! contains highlights from the Dr. Elliott and Eileen Hinkes Collection of Rare Books in the History of Science.
The collection, totaling more than 300 items, provides a kind of roadmap of seminal moments in the history of science and was assembled over two decades by Dr. Elliott Hinkes, an alumnus of the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Hinkes, who died in 2009, maintained a private practice specializing in medical oncology and hematology in the Los Angeles area for more than 30 years and was an associate clinical professor at UCLA.

JSI – Jericho Stage, Inc. brings a level of expertise and a working relationship with presenters that is hard to find with production companies. We went the extra mile to ensure that not only the client is happy, but that the presenters at the exhibition were well attended to. This made the event a resounding success for such an important collection.
Eureka! is open to the public from October 24, 2011 through February 29, 2012 at the George Peabody Library, 17 E. Mount Vernon Place, Baltimore, MD 21202. The George Peabody Gallery is open Monday through Friday 9 – 5, Saturdays 9 – 3, and Sundays 12 – 5. Admission is free.

Jericho Stage built this small public speaking indoor stage with steps and safety rails. The stage was carpeted and skirted in black and JSI also provided the podium. This store in Bethesda, Maryland was once a high end Expo Design Center, A Home Depot Company lasting 17 years that catered to the more affluent of home renovators and new home builders. It was only a year ago that the Expo stores started closing due to the crippling affects of a poor economy. Now with hopes of a growing economy, Home Depot and it’s marketing company “Octagon” have asked JSI to help them reopen the location as Home Depot Store #2509. Many neighbors and friends of the former store were glad to see the location reopen. The event was busy with old and new clients as a once familiar place to shop opened with a breath of new life.

JSI-joins the nation in honoring the extraordinary life of the late Civil Rights Activist and Leader Dr. Dorothy Height. Born March 24th, 1912 in Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Height passed from this earth April 20th, 2010 at the age of 98. JSI was honored to support the event entitled, “Hats On for Dr. Dorothy I. Height, a salute to a lifetime of service”.
Held April 25th of this year at Coppin State University’s 4100 seat basket ball arena located in the newely built Physical Education Center which opened just 2 months prior on February 27th, the event puts a crown on CSU, the city of Baltimore and the relationship they had with a pillar of the civil rights movement both here in the USA and all over the world.
The spacious basketball arena is home to the Coppin State Eagles and Jericho was required to provide special protection for the new springboard floor. No stranger to working with Coppin State, JSI installed a custom public speaking platform in the new arena for the event. Many honored attendees used the stage to celebrate a lifetime of achievements by the Late Dr. Height who had a long standing relationship with CSU. The Honorable Dr. Maya Angelou, Poet & Author was among them. The seminal event served to launch two major programs in Dr. Heights honor at Coppin State University, and was to be attended by Dr. Height. Prior to her passing she was insistent that the event go on.
